This year is shaping up to be a more normal summer than last season. Oh yeah, the water has been flat, flat, flat. The weather's been perfect and the water has been absolutely flat.<br /><br />Additional signs of spring are visible every day. The kittiwakes are back at the rookery and we've already seen a black bear on the hillside across from town. Shrimping is also very good for those of us with pots out.<br /><br />Although the road closure has made it challenging for fishermen to get here, the first limit of halibut was brought back this week by the <em>Swee'Pea </em>(Whittier Marine Charters).
